First, I have to give credit to the Canadian nature photographer Brad Hill who correctly “predicted” the D500 announcement (see my post here). Back in September last year I reported about a possible combined announcement of the “D400” and D5, but this rumor kind of faded away (see my post here). Check out also this D500 rumor from 2008 🙂

Nikon did not announce any technical specifications, accessories or pricing for their new Nikon KeyMission 360 action camera. This is what we know so far:

I received some information from a reliable source that Nikon may have another announcement in the next few days (weeks?) before the CP+ show in Japan (February 25th-28th).
The only not-yet-announced items on my list are the two Coolpix cameras and the new compacts with 1″ sensor. I do not expect the new Nikon mirrorless system so early in the year.

Nikon D500 with MB-D17 multi power battery pack
Similar to my previous D5 post, here are few Nikon D500 LCD screen captures of photos taken from ISO 25,600 to ISO 1,640,000 (I know, it’s just pictures of the screen, but we have nothing better right now):
→ Lexar memory cards on sale (incl. XQD).
→ GoPro and Samsung are also working on 360 degree action cameras (picture credit: B&H).
→ LensScore added test results for the Nikon AF-S 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VR lens.
A quick update: the memory card slots in the Nikon D5 camera (XQD or CF) can be exchanged at a Nikon service center (for a fee of course). This info can be found on page 15 of the D5 brochure (thanks RMJ and akkual).
