The Romanian photograph Zoltán Nagy (website, Instagram, Facebook) recently won the Nikkor AF-S 70-200mm f/2.8E FL ED VR 100th anniversary edition lens in a local Nikon competition. Nokishita recently published a full list of cameras and lenses already registered with various government agencies but not yet officially announced. Nikon currently has only one new camera registered (N1622) together with the upcoming N16F1 remove control. I believe this N1622 registration is for the rumored Nikon Coolpix P900 replacement. As Nokishita already reported, the camera was scheduled to be manufactured in the Chinese factory that was recently shut down – this could explain why we have not seen the official announcement yet:
Nikon stock is up 2% today
Today Nikon released their financial results for the second quarter of their financial year (ending March 2018). Here are the slides relevant to the Imaging Business (click for larger view):
Nikon Brazil issued a press release announcing that they will no longer sale Nikon equipment in Brazil. Currently Nikon sales only through their e-commerce site in Brazil. With e-commerce closing, they will also close all sales in that country. Nikon will continue to fix broken equipment under warranty. Nikon does not have any real distribution network in this country. Brazilian camera stores sell only gray market Nikon gear without a factory warranty. Here is the full press release:
Nikon issued an official notice that the NIKKOR AF-S 24-70mm f/2.8E ED VR lens will be in short supply because of the latest rebates that offer up to $200 off on selected lenses. Similar lens cashback program was also introduced in Japan as well.
