The new Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 180-400mm f/4E TC 1.4 FL ED VR lens will be priced around $10,000, shipping will start in March

The Japanese price of the upcoming Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 180-400mm f/4E TC 1.4 FL ED VR lens is going to be ¥1,287,900 including tax, or around $11,400. Based on this information, I am guessing that the US price of the lens will be around $10,000.

The new lens is expected to start shipping on March 9th, 2018. The official announcement should be on Monday or Tuesday.

There is also a new Nikon EH-6c AC adapter for D4, D4s and D5 DSLR cameras.

Nikon D850: camera of the year at IR and Dpreview reader’s choice award winner

Imaging Resource selected the Nikon D850 DSLR camera as their camera of the year:

“We felt that the Nikon D850 deserved the crown of Best Overall. It’s blazingly fast, has great image quality, excellent ergonomics, shoots full-frame 4K video (with clean 4:2:2 output via its HDMI port) and can stand up to adverse shooting conditions better than we ourselves can. In our book, all those added up to it being our ultimate choice for our 2017 Camera of the Year.”

Imaging Resource also did some “water torture” tests of the Nikon D850 and three other cameras:

New Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 180-400mm f/4E TC 1.4 FL ED VR lens to be announced next week

I received a confirmation from one of my sources that next week for CES Nikon will announce the previously rumored AF-S NIKKOR 180-400mm f/4E TC 1.4 FL ED VR lens. Nokishita also confirmed the new lens on Twitter. There will be also two new accessories: HK-41 (lens hood) and LC-K103 (front lens cap).

The pricing is still not known, but this lens will not be cheap – I expect to be around $9,00-$10,000 maybe even more (the current Nikkor 200-400mm model is $6,996.95, while the new Canon 200-400 lens with TC is priced at 10,999).

Will Samyang start making autofocus lenses for Nikon F-mount? (first Canon autofocus lens coming soon)

I have reported on several occasions in the past that Samyang will start producing autofocus DSLR lenses (see also this and this posts). The first Samyang AF 14mm f/2.8 EF autofocus lens for Canon mount will be announced in a few days. We have to see if Samyang will also start producing autofocus lenses also for Nikon F-mount (my guess is yes).
