Nikon will be the first company to offer true HDMI ProRes RAW 4k output with the Z6/Z7 mirrorless cameras

Nikon will be the first company to offer true HDMI ProRes RAW 4k output with the Z6/Z7 mirrorless cameras (RAW video output is already available from other manufacturers like Blackmagic, but not from the HDMI port). The upgrade will come as a firmware update and this is probably the main reason for the new Nikon Z6 filmmaker’s kit (Adorama | B&H | Amazon) that includes also the Atomos Ninja V 4K HDR 5” monitor/recorder.

Panasonic is also rumored to introduce RAW video in their upcoming Lumix S full-frame mirrorless cameras, but we don’t have any details yet.

ProGrade Digital also has a new 1TB CFexpress memory card

Lexar is not the only company showing a terabyte memory card at CES. ProGrade Digital also demonstrated their new CFexpress 1TB memory card at the show:

Updated Nikon Z mirrorless lens roadmap (a total of 23 Z lenses by 2021)

After the Nikkor Z 14-30mm f/4 S lens announcement (Adorama | B&H | Amazon) Nikon made a few small updates to their Nikon Z mirrorless lens roadmap:

The Nikkor Z 20mm f/1.8 lens release time changed from 2019 to 2020
The Nikkor Z 24mm f/1.8 lens release time changed from 2020 to 2019
4 additional Z lenses will be announced in 2020
7 new Z lenses are expected in 2021 (8 lenses were initially planned for 2021)
