Nikon Z6 in-depth analysis: ISO, battery life, focusing and more

Nikon Z6 at ISO 5,000

Nikon Z6 in-depth analysis by Fran Russo (Website | Instagram):

Battery problem? Nooo! More than 5,500 pictures.

I have read in several places that the battery only allows 300 pictures. This is a complete lie. With a single battery, I am able to shoot more than 5,500 photographs without recharging. All were shot in RAW. I also had activated the stabilizer in normal and sport. The camera was in airplane mode. I do not know if this affects a lot.

I think that only using the electronic viewfinder, you could easily shoot 7000 or 8000 photographs. In addition, I must note that I used a 2-year-old battery that I used to use for my old Nikon d750 for the test.

Nikon photo recovery: how to recover your lost or corrupt photos and videos

Nikon Photo Recovery: How to recover your lost or corrupt photos and videos

DSLRs have long made their way into the professional photography industry. The past few years have also seen a rise in DSLRs’ popularity in the consumer segment. Seemingly, social sharing and urban lifestyle trends along with the need to capture high-res images are driving this mainstream demand for DSLRs.

The optics and imaging tech leaders in the industry have been nimble on picking these demand cues and innovating more advanced DSLR cameras for the end consumer. Quite a few state-of-the-art devices have been rolled out in recent years with a sterling mix of technology and engineering. For instance, Nikon D850 is a full-frame DSLR that combines a 45.7 megapixel sensor with high-speed continuous shooting at up to 7 fps with just the camera body.

Surprisingly, on the flipside of this incredible leap in DSLR imaging technology and functional innovations, there’s an evident lag in terms of— how reliably the media recorded with DSLRs can be preserved, without getting corrupt or lost.

Nikon will be the first company to offer true HDMI ProRes RAW 4k output with the Z6/Z7 mirrorless cameras

Nikon will be the first company to offer true HDMI ProRes RAW 4k output with the Z6/Z7 mirrorless cameras (RAW video output is already available from other manufacturers like Blackmagic, but not from the HDMI port). The upgrade will come as a firmware update and this is probably the main reason for the new Nikon Z6 filmmaker’s kit (Adorama | B&H | Amazon) that includes also the Atomos Ninja V 4K HDR 5” monitor/recorder.

Panasonic is also rumored to introduce RAW video in their upcoming Lumix S full-frame mirrorless cameras, but we don’t have any details yet.
