The new normal: Nikon has not announced a “real” camera in more than 12 months

With the exception of three Coolpix point and shoot camera, Nikon has not announced a “real” camera in the past 12 months (the D6 was not a real announcement, we all knew that camera is coming, we have no specs or release date). The last officially announced Nikon cameras were the D3500 on August 30th, 2018 and the Z6/Z7 on August 23rd 2018.

In the past 12 months Canon announced 3 mirrorless and 2 DSLR cameras plus a bunch of serious compacts. For the same time, Sony has announced 4 mirrorless cameras (one full-frame and three APS-C).
