What’s coming next from Nikon?

What to expect next from Nikon:

Nikon Z mirrorless cameras

  • Nikon will announce a new APS-C mirrorless camera in the first half of 2021 (I assume it will be positioned below the current Z50 model – maybe a Z30?) – this model will most likely come without an EVF. I do not expect any other cameras to be introduced in the first 6 months.
  • NikonZ9 mirrorless camera with 8k video and 60MP sensor (to compete with the Sony a1). Some websites report a 45MP sensor for this model – I personally don’t think this makes any sense since the Z7II already has a 45MP sensor. The official announcement is expected in the second half of the year.

Deal of the day: Irix 15mm f/2.4 Firefly lens (Nikon F-mount) for $299

Irix is selling “used” Irix 15mm f/2.4 Firefly lenses for Nikon F-mount for $299 on Amazon update: SOLD OUT (the already discounted price is $390). I was told that these are basically brand new lenses in dirty or slightly damaged boxes (not refurbished since they were never sold before – they come with a full warranty). The lenses are fulfilled by Amazon and a return should not be a problem in case there is an issue.

Previous coverage of the Irix 15mm f/2.4 lens can be found here.
