Their latest Nikon rumor is from David D. Busch’s Amazon Blog:
“Veteran DSLR guidebook writer David Busch is hinting at his Amazon blog of a new Nikon camera (DSLR?) coming soon. He says, quote:
My guidebooks for the D700, D3, and a soon-to-be announced additional camera…
So that seems to suggest that there is at least one more impact Nikon camera coming up. We can’t tell for sure whether this refers to a DSLR, an impact compact, or perhaps something else. The text says “camera”, not “DSLR”, so we cannot jump to conclusions.
And of course there could be more than one coming, but the author is planning a book about one of them.”

Nikon D800 with SD memory slot

Going back to our original D800 post – from a reader who actually read the magazine:
“I’ve been reading Chasseur d’Images (I’m a native french). There is another mention of the D800 in their hands on preview of the D700: They point to space available in the D700’s memory card compartment that could hold an additional SD card slot (on top of the CF one) for the “coming D800 with the 24MP Sony sensor”.
They’re definitely taking the D800 as a given. For the record, Chasseur d’Images only has one issue coming out in summer, for the two months of July and August, and they’ve been quite vocal in the past about how information embargo is killing the technology press in favor of web sites. My guess is they are realizing they will miss the announcement at the beginning of September, and wanted to include a teaser in their summer issue.”

Three new Nikon SLR’s plus the P6000 before the end of the year

“Went to a Nikon open day to see the New Nikon D700 (very nice) got myself a SB900 flash
I asked if the Nikon p6000 was coming soon? the Nikon Rep confirmed it would be here soon, I asked if the 24million D4 would be out in August? He said no comment, and then added there would be three new Nikon SLRS out before the end of the year inc the D4 near the end of the year.
Also new FX lenses. 
He also said the D3 did not need a sensor cleaner most of the dirt was coming of the shutter???
Also got a cap, mud, umbrella and bag.”

A reader posted this as a comment to an existing entry (in order to remain anonymous – no email reference):


“35 afs

50 something. Source isn’t solid on this. Either 1.8 af-s, 1.4 IF, or 1.2 with electronic vignetting correction for d3 d700 with firmware upgrade.
I have no details on the third.”


Then I asked for more details and here is the answer:

“35 afs is having qa issues
Source said 50 1.2 with electronic vignetting control will not be announced till PMA next year. Expect a 50 1.8 or 1.4 afs version.”
