A retail chain, which name I will not mention online, has scheduled a meeting for all buyers on August 22nd, 2011. This usually happens when there is a major announcement and new products are presented to the purchasing department.
Previous rumors indicated that certain Nikon offices have already blocked employees from taking vacation in the last two weeks of August 2011.
I am still receiving conflicting information on what exactly will be announced next month.
The new August 2011 issue of Men’s Journal magazine has a Revo sunglasses ad, featuring photographer Jimmy Chin holding a Nikon DSLR camera with an unusual/unknown lens attached. The lens looks like a short version of the existing 70-200 f/2.8 VR II. Could this be the new 80-400mm lens? Or maybe this is an existing lens from Sigma, Tamron or Tokina? What do you guys think? The current Nikon Coolpix S1100pj model
There’ll be a bunch of new Coolpix cameras announced at the end of August. One of them will be an upgrade to the current P1100pj model (the one with a built-in projector). Few weeks ago Tim McKenna mentioned about a new underwater camera from Nikon on his Facebook page. I can now confirm that there will be a new rugged Coolpix model, which will be Nikon’s first.
The picture of the Nikon mirrorless mount is real. How do I know? Nikon officially requested the Chinese forum Xitek to remove the entire post containing the camera code name and the picture. The post is now gone.

Brief translation (thanks B.): the new mirrorless demo machine is here, temperatly named X810. The user is not going to post pictures of the whole camera due to trade secret and he do not want to lost his job. but he did post a picture of the mount as requested by other users. As we can see it is not a F-mount and the senser size seems to be 1/2.3 or 2.5. many users seems to be disappointed with the small sensor it has.
