Nikon 1 announcement rumored for next week: V3 camera, two lenses, new external light

The latest rumors are that the Nikon 1 V3 with a new 10-30mm f/3.5-5.6 PD VR lens and the 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 VR zoom will all be announced next week, probably on March 12th or 13th. There will also be a new Nikon 1 light (LED?) accessory – maybe one of those prototypes:

FYI: last year Nikon announced the LD-1000 LED movie light that is still available today and I doubt that it will be replaced next week.

I expect this to be a Nikon 1 announcement only and I don’t think we will see anything else (the rumored Nikon Coolpix P8000 camera is expected in April-May).

Rumors: Nikon D800 refresh instead of D4x

Some new rumors started circulating that Nikon will not release a D4x camera but instead refresh the Nikon D800 (D800s?) the way they updated the D4s (same sensor, improved ISO, slightly faster, higher price tag). It is too early to mark this rumor with anything above 50% probability.

Updated Nikon Coolpix P8000 camera specifications

I received some additional specifications for the rumored Nikon Coolpix P8000 camera:

  • The lens could be even faster than previously reported: f/1.8 – 3.0
  • Maximum shutter speed: 1/8000 sec.
  • The P8000 will use a new 1″ Aptina sensor
  • Expeed 3 imaging processor
  • Magnesium body
  • Comfortable grip similar to the Nikon P5100 and  P6000 models

Another rumored Nikon 1 lens: collapsible Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 VR zoom

In addition to the V3 mirrorless camera  and 10-30mm f/3.5-5.6 PD VR lens, Nikon is also rumored to announce a new 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 VR zoom for the Nikon 1 system. The new lens will feature very advanced optics with SuperED glass and Nano coating. The official announcement t is expected this month.

Update #1: this Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 VR zoom lens is also rumored to be collapsible like the recently announced 18–55mm f/3.5–5.6G DX lens.

Update #2: Nikon has already filed a patent for 70-300mm f/4-5.6 lens (FX equivalent: 190-810mm) designed for a camera with 1″ sensor:
