Nikon Germany to concentrate on full frame products

A rather strange press release came out from Nikon Germany – it basically says that Nikon Germany will focus/concentrate on FX products. They even created a new dedicated website (not yet online). Here is the full press release (Google translation):

This is the upcoming Vivo phone with rotating Nikon-branded camera and EXPEED processor

Those rendering are from the rumored Vivo smart phone that will feature rotating Nikon-branded camera and EXPEED processor (via Phonearena). The next Nexus 5 phone is also rumored to have a Nikon camera module inside. With the shrinking compact camera market, Nikon is obviously trying to position themselves as a camera technology supplier to the fast growing smart phone industry.

Nikon’s new zoom/focus assist lever NAL-1

With the D5300 announcement, Nikon also introduced a new zoom/focus assist lever called NAL-1 “that enables smoother zooming and focusing when attached to the zoom ring or focus ring on a NIKKOR lens“. Pricing and availability are not yet announced.
