There is no new Nikon EN-EL15 battery recall

Several websites reported today about a Nikon EN-EL15 battery recall. Please note that this is an old recall from 2012 and Nikon Japan recently just updated their website with some additional information (reported here last month). Nikon USA was probably late with the translation and just recently updated their website here. As far as I know, nothing has changed in the recall, but you can still check your batteries here.

BTW, the new Nikon EN-EL15a battery is also compatible with older cameras – see the full list here.

Nikon D810 replacement rumored to be announced on July 25

The Nikon D810 replacement is rumored to be announced on July 25 – on the exact day of Nikon’s 100th anniversary.

I still cannot confirm this date because Nikon will definitely have a press release on that day and one can easily mistake a press release for a new product announcement.

The new Irix 11mm f/4 full frame lens for Nikon DSLR cameras will start shipping this week

B&H and Adorama will start shipping the new Irix 11mm f/4 full frame lens for Nikon DSLR cameras later this week. The lens is already in stock in several EU retailers (Amazon UK, Amazon DE, Amazon FRAmazon IT).

Just a reminder that all Irix lenses are available in Firefly and Blackstone versions:

Just like the Irix 15mm, the new lens is offerred in two finish versions. Firefly, as a standard version is made of lightweight composite, provided with an anti-slip rubber coating and clearly printed markings. The premium version, the Blackstone, features a durable aluminum/magnesium alloy body that ensures rugged durability. Blackstone’s engraved fluorescent markings reflect UV light to enable easy operation in low-light conditions.

Additional coverage of the Irix 11mm f/4 lens can be found here.

Here is a picture of the new Irix filters that will also be launched in a few days (more info here):
