Nikon D900 accessories (part 3)

I know this is getting boring, but I wanted to make one additional point – all of the D900 compatible product listed in the past few days had one thing in common: the only odd model in the description was the D900. Not the D700s, D800 or D400. If the intend was to attract more keyword searches, they would have listed all Dxxx possibilities for maximum exposure. In almost all entries the D90 is listed separately, which means the D900 was not a typo.

Here is another one – a remote control that supports Nikon D900 (again, all other models are valid, except the D900):

BTW Nikon removed the second D60 entry on their website.

Nikon D900 rumor (continuation)

I update the previous Nikon D900 report too many times (check it out) – I will just continue with this new posts since some of the RSS subscribers may not get all the updates:

  • M Lammerse talks on dpreview that “there are new Nikon item numbers added to their system” and he continues further “Follow up of D700 (D800) for February and 2 new lenses for February as well. Expect however at least 3 new prime lenses and 2 new zoom lenses. There are 2 prime lenses not ordable anymore for them, he expects them to be replaced this year.”

New year, new rumor: Nikon D900 (updated)

Updates:

  • Nikon bag for D900 (this bag is made by Nikon and both D90 and D900 are listed as compatible):

  • Nikon D900 battery initially I thought this is a typo, since the same battery is used by the D90, but if you look at the bottom of the page they have two separate categories for D90 and D900. Note also that the “D900” is present multiple times on that page – difficult to make multiple typos at the same time:

  • Amazon is buying “Nikon D900” ads: if you google “Nikon D900” you will see Amazon advertising for Nikon D900 and the link goes to the Nikon D700 product page (conspiracy theory: Amazon owns dpreview; dpreview always get cameras in advance; Amazon is always the first one to offer pre-order options when a new camera is announced (usually 2-3 hours after the official announcement – for comparison it takes B&H and Adorama few days to update their pages). It is hard for me to believe that someone at Amazon is waiting for the announcement and then creates all the products entries – they must be created in advance, which means that Amazon probably knows what is coming):

Original post:

Bower Inc. produces a variety of photo related accessories, sold mainly by B&H and Adorama. In their online catalog (pdf file), Bower lists the battery grip XBGND700 as compatible with Nikon D300/D700/D900:

Same is the description on their website – you can see that this is not a D90 with an extra “0” typo, since the D90 grip is a different model:

B&H lists this product as compatible only with D300 and D700 which could mean that the description was updated recently:

Now, I do believe that certain manufacturers get a heads up from Nikon about upcoming products in order to adjust their product line. If this is the case here remains to be seen.

Best of 2009 @ NikonRumors

I was going to write a more “emotional end-of-the-year” post today, but at the end I decided to go with the simple “Best of 2009” post – those are the top 10 most visited NikonRumors posts for 2009:

In 2009 NikonRumors.com had 2,373,390 unique visitors from 220 countries/territories that generated 15,324,178 pageviews.

Happy New Year to everyone and thank you for being a [NR] reader!

Nikon D700 is being phased out

The rumor is that at least one Nikon distributor in the Middle East has semi-officially announced that the Nikon D700 has been “pulled out” because of the upcoming replacement that should be released in “the next few weeks”. I was told that stores cannot order the D700 from their supplier in that particular country. The only additional details I got: the new camera will have a double CF card slots (update: at that point it is not clear if it will have dual CF or one CF and one SD card slots) and 1080 video.

Similar report came from China a month ago.
