Nikon US no longer supports the D800E? I don’t think so.

Photographyblog just published a report that the D800E could be “no longer supported” by Nikon US. The article quotes a response from Nikon support who told a photographer interested in purchasing the camera that the D800E is no longer supported by Nikon: “they are not going to stock or make anymore”. I seriously doubt that the Nikon D800E will no longer be produced or available for sale in the US (D800E is currently in stock at Amazon). Nikon UK already confirmed that the D800E is a current product in the UK. The D800E is also not listed on the official list of discontinued products.

Nikon patents for 1 Nikkor 10-100mm f/4-5.6 lens and fan accessory for cooling digital cameras

US patent D665005 filed by Nikon is probably for the upcoming 1 Nikkor 10-100mm f/4-5.6 lens. As you can see from the drawings, the controls on the lens are slightly different then the current 1 Nikkor VR 10-100mm f/4.5-5.6 PD-Zoom lens. There seems to be also a new switch on the side:

The new Nikon 70-200mm f/4 lens expected to start shipping at the end of November

The new Nikon 70-200mm f/4 lens that is expected to be announced next week will probably start shipping at the end of November, 2012. The price of the lens is expected to be in the $1,000-$1,300 range (depending on your local currency). I do not have the exact US price yet.

Nikon Small World photomicrography competition

For 38 years Nikon has been running the Small World photomicrography competition. The Dailymail and Popular Science have published an amazing selection of Small World photographs. The entire gallery can be found here. The deadline for the 2012 competition is April 30th, 2013.
