Nikon-secret-product
Nikon will have another press conference next week – most likely on October 17th. I am not sure yet what will be announced, but most likely it will be one of the products I mentioned in my post yesterday.

Nikon rumors: what’s next

Nikon Rumors
This is an updated list on what to expect from Nikon in the next few months based on my previous post:

Nikon D5300

→ Coming soon, most likely to be announced at the CES show in early January. Rumored specifications:

  • 24MP
  • 39 AF points
  • EXPEED 4 (new)
  • Built-in Wi-Fi (new)
  • Built-in GPS (new)

Nikon D4x or similar

→ I think the release of the D610 will postpone tha plans for another full frame pro body. Nikon recently announced that they will concentrate on entry level models. There is still a possibility for a full frame pro body in early 2014 right before the Winter Olympics. I have no reliable intel on a potential release date or specifications.

Lenses

→ I only have information for two new lenses: Nikkor AF-S 300mm f/4G VR lens and a new 16mm fisheye lens. There is also a very good chance for a new Nikon TC-14E III teleconverter and/or another tele lens to be announced before the Olympics.

Nikon D610

→ Already announced.

Underwater camera

→ Already announced, see detailed coverage here.

Nikon officially announced the D610 camera:

Nikon D610 pre-order options at B&H (check also the listings at Amazon and Adorama):

As expected, the D610 is just a minor updated from the D600 with improved shutter mechanism, new quiet continuous shooting options, slightly higher fps rate and improved white balance (I did not see any official mentioning of an updated weather sealing update from nikon.com: “all joints are effectively sealed for the same superior dust- and water-resistance as the D800 and D800E“). The D610 will start shipping on October 18, 2013.

With the announcement of the D610, the price of a new D600 camera with 24-85mm lens dropped to $2096.95 $1,929.95.

Nikon D610 announcement in 48 hours

Nikon-D610-logo
First I would like to thank everyone for the support in those hard times for me and my family.

In approximately 48 hours Nikon will announce the D610 camera. As I already mentioned, the D610 specs will be almost identical to the D600. The only known difference seems to be the improved fps rate (6 vs. 5.5) and a new weather sealing identical to the D800 (the D600 only had extensive” weather sealing in “various points of the body“). The D610 will be made in Thailand (just like the D600).

I will try to have some basic D610 coverage next week.
