A very different Nikon 1 V3 mirrorless camera is rumored for January

After disappointing sales in Europe and the US, Nikon has not given up on their mirrorless solution. New Nikon 1 products are expected to be announced during the 2014 CES show in early January including a new V3 camera. The new Nikon 1 V3 will have a design closer to the Nikon Coolpix P-series (P7800). The rumor is that the accessory port will be removed and replaced with a fully compatible flash hot shoe to compliment the SB-300 ($147). The pop-up flash will also be able to act as a wireless commander.

Nikon stock down 23.6%, the worst underperformer in the Nikkei this year

Just saw this report on Reuters:

“Nikon is down 23.6 percent year-to-date and is the worst underperformer in the Nikkei this year, while the benchmark has rallied nearly 49 percent.”

Nikon had to cut their financial forecasts multiple times in the past few months.

Nikon’s Black Friday deals will be available on November 28th

The Nikon Black Friday deals will start on November 28th (not 24th as I initially reported) and will be valid till November 30th. The savings will be in the form of a lens instant rebate when you buy a Nikon DSLR body. I will publish the details tomorrow (Wednesday) at midnight EST. This will be the only official Black Friday deals from Nikon. All Nikon DSLR cameras will qualify for the rebates, including the new Df which will start shipping on Friday. The lens savings will include many pro lenses and will be identical to the rebates offered back in September:
