I haven’t bee following price changes real close of late and was wondering if the price of Nikon lenses did rise in Canada on April 1 as was suspected to occur.

F1 night race now. One of D5’s best use cases.

I keep coming across references to the allegedly disappointing performance of the D5 below ISO 1600. There are plenty of examples of high ISO performance available on the internet, but little solid evidence of low ISO. Thom Hogan’s D5 blog (excellent) touches upon the issue, and he’s currently gone walkabout to test the D5 more thoroughly, so that will eventually be a solid point of reference. There’s an “Angry Photographer” bloke on Youtube who is scathing about the D5 at low ISO, but he doesn’t provide actual examples.

Any D5 owners out there who have reached early conclusions about low ISO performance, based upon what they are seeing?

Here is what you can do with its jpeg (let alone raw) at ISO100. for those who actually use this camera, thats enough.

        Thanks you. That’s pretty impressive.

Full Res on Flickr. D5 ISO 100. I also shot the Low settings equiv. to 50, 64, 80. I can upload those as well and RAW if anyone likes. Feel free to download and look for yourself. This is ooc jpg.

Thank you. I suspected that much of the stuff I was reading about D5 low ISO was hysterical. These pictures confirm that.
