
I already mentioned that Nikon D3x is out of production and today Nikon Japan officially listed the camera as discontinued. Obviously the D3x and its price tag of $7999 doesn’t make any sense after the D800 announcement.
The website f64.ro lists the Nikon D3x as “out of production”. They were also the first to mark the D3s as “out of production” back in December, 2011. Few months later the camera was listed as discontinued in Japan and the US. The Nikon D3x never dropped in price like the D700 and is still listed for $7,999.95.
Update: all Canadian dealers received an email yesterday from Nikon that the D700 is discontinued as there is no stock nationwide. This could be a mistake, but Nikon USA removed the D3s camera from the DSLR section of their website. The Nikon D90, D3000, D300s, D700, D3x are still listed. Adorama currently has the D3s in stock. Nikon D700 and D300s are now officially listed as discontinued on Nikon’s website. The surprise here is the phase out of the D300s, because I have not received any reliable information about a potential replacement. More on the Nikon SB-900 speedlight being discontinued story: in BestBuy’s internal inventory system the Nikon SB-900 flash is already listed as “deleted” which usually means this product will no longer be available for sale: The Nikon SB-900 is still available for sale on BestBuy website.
