New Tamron 35-150mm f/2-2.8 lens for Nikon Z-mount coming next week?

How2fly now reports that a new Tamron 35-150mm f/2-2.8 lens for Nikon Z-mount will be announced next week.

How2fly doesn’t have a good track record when it comes to Nikon gear – his last tweet about the 200-600 lens was later deleted when the lens was not announced.

The Tamron 35-150mm f/2-2.8 lens already exists for Sony E-mount and is priced at $1,899 (additional information is available here).

Tamron currently has only one lens for Nikon Z-mount (70-300mm f/4.5-6.3 Di III RXD), but several of the latest Nikkor lenses are based on existing Tamron designs (Nikkor Z 70-180mm f/2 and Nikkor Z 28-75mm f/2.8).

Yahoo Japan: “Z mount suddenly rises to second place in interchangeable lenses, finally escaping from regular single-digit share”

Tamron 70-300mm f/4.5-6.3 Di III RXD lens for Nikon Z-mount officially released, available for pre-order

Several Nikon Z8 owners report separated/broken strap lugs

Several Nikon Z8 owners reported separated/broken strap lugs on their new cameras – see this and this post on the Nikon Z8 Facebook group (see also this post):

“So today I was out shooting an event with my Z8. I use peak Design anchors and strap. The anchor point on the camera broke. And the body fell. And it does not turn on anymore. Something audible is broken inside the body. But there is no external damage.”

Translation from the Chinese post:

“A reminder to those who own a Nikon Z8, there are several cases of shoulder strap screws dropped. It’s not an isolated case, pay more attention when you use it, accidentally the shoulder strap fell off, and my camera fell”

I am posting this here so we can track this issue in the future. If you have a similar problem, please comment and post a picture.

Nikon Z9 underwater review in Australia

Nikon Z9 underwater review in Australia by Nicolas Remy (Instagram: @nicolaslenaremy) from The Underwater Club (see the full review here).

Introduction

As a long-term Nikon DSLR user, I was curious to see how the Nikon Z9 compared for underwater photography, in the low-light and low-visibility waters where I dive the most.

I want to thank Nikon Australia and Nauticam for the opportunity to try for myself, by lending me the camera, lenses, housings and ports for several weeks of testing, in Sydney’s temperate waters and a few others spots in New South Wales (Australia).

This review focuses on the 3 areas where DSLRs have traditionally outperformed mirrorless cameras in underwater photography: autofocus, viewfinder experience, and battery life.

I will also touch on burst shooting, and finally review the Nauticam NA-Z9 housing.

Before jumping in, I also want to thank The Underwater Club’s Members for sharing their thoughts and questions on the Z9, which have inspired some of the tests I report in this review. A more in-depth version of this review is available on The Underwater Club’s blog.
