Nikon issues a second apology for not being able to deliver D850 cameras on time

Nikon Japan issued a second apology for the Nikon D850 DSLR camera still being out of stock worldwide (see the first apology here):

Apology and Notice on “Nikon D 850” Tightness

Thank you very much for your continued patronage of Nikon products.

The Nikon digital single lens reflex camera “D 850”, which we released on September 8, 2017, received orders from quite a large number of customers, far exceeding the expected quantity. We are shipping sequentially, but we still receive your time by the time you receive it at your hand.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused to you and our business partners who wait for products.

We will continue doing our utmost efforts so that we can deliver it as soon as possible so we appreciate your kind understanding.

There is actually also a second apology issued today for the Nikon ES-2 film digitizing adapter set (also Google translated):

Something Nikon related coming in the next few hours? *UPDATED*

Update #1: I just was able to clarify with my source – the tip I received was for the Sony a7r III mirrorless camera that will be announced shortly (2:30 am EST). The camera will be a direct competitor with the D850.

Update #2: Sony a7r III mirrorless camera officially announced (42MP)

Something happened earlier today – I am not sure if it was a joke or it relates to an announcement from another company (maybe the Tamron 100-400 lens?), but we may get something Nikon related (a surprise?) in the next 1-2 hours. I don’t know if it will be a new Nikon product or something from a third party company that can be used with a Nikon camera. I already reported that I don’t expect any major Nikon announcements for the CP+ show, especially since Nikon already got their PhotoPlus press release out. I will stay online for the next 1-2 hours just to make sure we don’t miss anything.

US price of the Tamron 100-400mm f/4.5-6.3 Di VC USD lens: $799

A quick update on my post from yesterday: the US price of the Tamron 100-400mm f/4.5-6.3 Di VC USD lens will be $799.

This is a pretty good deal, considering that the Nikkor 200-500mm f/5.6 is $1,396.95, while the Sigma 100-400mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary is also priced at $799.
