This is a flier from a Swiss store FotoPro:
On the lower left cornet, in the red circle:
“Soeben erfahren: Es kommt noch eine weitere Top-Neuheit von Nikon. Infos ab 28. August 2008 in unseren Läden”
in English:
“Just heard: An additional top novelty from Nikon. Info from August 28 in our shops”.
We received similar report form other authorized Nikon dealers (no scans yet).

New Nikon AF-S 50mm f/1.4 G lens coming in September

Schland! Again! The primes are coming!
Just received this from a reader in Europe:
A German store found the new AF-S 50mm f/1.4 G listed from Nikon for pre-orders and delivery in September. Price 650 Euro (which would mean 600-700$)!
This should be the long awaited replacement of the Nikon 50mm f/1.4D Auto Focus AF Nikkor lens.
Waiting on more information.
Anyone working in a Nikon authorized dealer in Germany – can you please confirm and get us a screenshot? Are there any other lenses available for pre-order?
I think you all know by know that every rumor we got from Germany turned out to be true (too many to mention here). Just scan the old D700 posts (prior to the official announcement) and you will find out.
I say this is a plausible rumor.

Nikon D90 available this Fall according to a Slovenian DLSR site (updated)

Update: www.slr.si (company Infocona d.d.) is listed on Nikon Europe page as an authorized Nikon dealer.

On the official Slovenian Sigma dealer site http://www.slr.si (no confirmation yet if they are a Nikon dealer) you can find a D90 marked as NEW. There is no price yet, but it is written that we can expect it this Fall:


Just to remind our readers that the D700 also popped up in few European retailers before it was officially announced – see here, here and here for more details.

Yes, it could be a typo

…but we still have to report it.
What do we have here? A new Nikon 85mm lens? Could be. Why is it listed as NEW? Typo?
Pro and cons:
  • We know already that Ritz is low/out of stock on primes (including the 85mm).
  • SB-900 flash and the 60mm Macro lens are also listed as NEW, so we know this is not an out-of-date ad.
  • It still listed as AF and not as AF-S. One would expect the new 85mm to be AF-S.
  • The price seems to be the same as the old AF lens.

Foto Magazin scan – Nikon Photokina rumor from Germany

We got multiple responses to our previous request. Thanks!
Foto Magazin is reporting that the D3X sensor might come from Sony (24MP – will be announced this Fall). The D3x should have the same body as the D3. The D90 will probably use the CMOS sensor from the D300 (12MP) including LiveView, sensor cleaning and Active D-Lighting. No word of video recording. I am not sure if the pictures are legit.
