When pictures were taken with the wide converter WC-E76 and the Wide angle converter and Distortion control items in the shooting menu set to On, the effects of distortion control were weak. This issue has been resolved.
When autofocus mode in the shooting menu was added to My Menu and autofocus mode set to Full-time AF, the setting was displayed as Single AF in the My Menu. This issue has been resolved.
Update: this one got busted, clearly a fake as many readers have pointed out. To prove it, a reader submitted this D3x picture that he created in 5 minutes with Photoshop.
I just got this image. I looks real to me. Click here for full size (I’ve never received fakes in this size). Here are some of the specs:
Sensor: Sony 24.5 MP
7 fps DX mode, 5 fps FX mode
Same metering
Same AF
I know it is not a lot and I know we don’t like the Sony sensor. Let’s just wait and see. I am expecting more info. Stay tuned.
Those votes have been pretty accurate in the past:
Adorama is giving away free passes to Imaging USA Expo – it will take place January 11-13 in Phoenix, Arizona and will consist of a trade show as well as extensive workshops and seminars for an additional fee.
To be eligible for the free pass to the Expo, go to the Imaging USA web site (select Expo only 3 days pass and then Expo Only admission for $35) and use the discount code TSC2009, booth #751 (Nikon has booth # 1031).
“Something not called D3x” – in late 2008 or early 2009. Oops, I just wrote in my last post that the next D3 will be called D3x. I still stand behind my sources.
New Nikon D60 in spring of 2009.
“A limited edition Nikon: likely a D3 sensor in an SP-like camera”. NR reported the same rumor few weeks ago – here is the post. I personally find this one very interesting, I hope it really comes to life.
D400 plus video – released late in the year (2009).
Lenses: new DX lenses, primes – 28 (yes!), 85, 200mm and yes a new 70-200mm.
Based on the information I have received from multiple sources from around the world, I am now 90% certain that we will see the new Nikon D3x by the end of this month. I keep getting the end of November or December 1st as a potential release date. I still do not know what will happen on November 20th. The new model will be called Nikon D3x (not D4) and it will have more MP (as expected).
The above statement is purely based on emails/tips I have been receiving in the past few days. The frequency and quality of the reports has definitely picked up. Of course this could be all just wishful thinking and speculation based on previous information posted on this blog.
I am still evaluating the best way to represent such an increase Nikon rumors chatter. Maybe I will introduce a Nikon Rumors Advisory System (similar to Homeland Security Advisory System).
The current level of Nikon rumors chatter would be HIGH.
