Two more hints from dpreview

It seems that Thom Hogan now also believes that there will be a new Nikon announcement by the end of this month:

“There’s a pattern that happens prior to a real Nikon launch. I’m seeing that pattern again and we already know about a 11/20 date for something being launched.” (Source)

RED cameras do have a Nikon mount (adaptor).

Nikon Coolpix P6000 1.1 Firmware update released

What was fixed:

  • When pictures were taken with the wide converter WC-E76 and the Wide angle converter and Distortion control items in the shooting menu set to On, the effects of distortion control were weak. This issue has been resolved.
  • When autofocus mode in the shooting menu was added to My Menu and autofocus mode set to Full-time AF, the setting was displayed as Single AF in the My Menu. This issue has been resolved.

Nikon D3x image

Update: this one got busted, clearly a fake as many readers have pointed out. To prove it, a reader submitted this D3x picture that he created in 5 minutes with Photoshop.

I just got this image. I looks real to me. Click here for full size (I’ve never received fakes in this size). Here are some of the specs:

  • Sensor: Sony 24.5 MP
  • 7 fps DX mode, 5 fps FX mode
  • Same metering
  • Same AF

I know it is not a lot and I know we don’t like the Sony sensor. Let’s just wait and see. I am expecting more info. Stay tuned.
