    • Can some1 plz tell me the song on that really cool new Kneecon ad? Is it Gotye or Justin Bieber or some1 else? I can’t find it anywhere. I’m dying to get it!!!

      • Rob

        It’s pronounced kneecone, not kneecon.

      • BartyL

I’m not a Gotye fan, but I think that’s a bit insulting to him. Also, stay out of the medicine cabinet – you can’t expect to just take random handfulls of pills like that and not expect it to affect your judgement. 🙂

  • BartyL

Will be interesting to see what the pricing and reviews are for the Samyang TS.

    • Paul

Agreed, half the price of the Nikon version maybe?

      • I compared price lens betwen Samyang and Nikon and Samyang is 3, 4 or 5 times cheaper than Nikon. So, may we’ll see a TS lens about 600€, or cheaper!

        • i would more want 40-60mm first but yea…

samiyang should start pushing nikon on specialty lenses when sigma or tamron wont

  • Dave

The Samyang TS lens should be a decent one. Can’t wait.

    • Timo

That’s the best news on this rumors since the announcement of the D800 + D4!
Nikon seems increasingly just care for the numbers of pieces sold as the recent product introductions reveal. All the more specialized products have to stand in line for long or get abandoned (like it seemingly happens with the D300s successor)
There are so many lenses being desired from the more “serious” shooters for good reasons, like an update of Nikon’s PC-E line plus a 17mm PC-E, the often discussed 80-400 successor, the patented 135/1.8, the likewise patented 16-35/2.8, a 24-70/2.8 with VR and internal zoom etc. etc.
Now that Samyang has the balls to get into the tilt-shift league I wish them well and wish us, that they really create an as-good or even better lens IQ than the Nikon.

For those who do not want to dish out the cash for a Nikon 14/2.8 or a Zeiss 15/2.8 the Samyang 14/2.8 is a pretty good alternative at least from stopped down to f 4.0. So chances are, that they are doing a good 24 TS too. Let us see.

  • Im pretty interested in the samyang as well. Recently sold my zooms getting ready to pick up some primes for landscape work-woul be interested in a cheaper t/s lens…

  • Samyang Fan

I’m too interested in Samyang TS lens. Paired with the Nikon D600, it should become a great landscape gear.

  • jorg

eagerly waiting for the samyang too. hoping it will be less than 800 euros.

    • Discontinued

Does nobody hope for the Samyang TS to perform well ? ? ?

      Rather strange …

      • Carsten

Samyang has a good track record for an excellent price/value ratio.

For most non-professionals a little less IQ is tolerable, but shelling out 2k for a rather specialized lens is not.

Hopefully the Samyang will allow to rotate the tilt- against the shift-mechanism without a trip to a service point. Perhaps they goof there the infinity setting like with the 14mm so that it can focus past infinity (this can make sense when the lens is tilted)

I expect it to come in the $800-900 range.

  • Jønam

S800c will get me lots of winks on the Facebook.

I am the buy one for the whole of the grandma, she like the slippery photo with the highness.

My wife will be give me many winks. If know wat mean!

    • Snake Plisken

I agree. Those facebook winks are to die for.

So… the S800c can publish to the web anywhere?! It’s not just wifi?

      • AM

@Jonan and Snake Plisken Can you post in English please?

        • getalife

@AM can you learn any other language?.. Didn’t think so.

          • Not Surprised

Feck, I thought it was an impersonation of that comedian guy from the Khazikstan movie.

        • Dave in the USA

I think he meant that he’ll get one for his wife’s grandmother to take high-res pictures of herself in the tub and post on Facebook. For some reason, his wife will be happy about that.

    • Shawn

Wink, wink, nudge, nudge say no more, say no more. Likes photographs does she? Wink, wink, say no more.

      • Funny Talk

        Does his grandma goes?

    Regarding about the Samyang’s 24:

I like it because it seems that it does not have electronic iris, then the Nikon F-mount lens version will be suitable for Canon via adaptor also. But at least would be nice to have a button for preview and focus purposes (open the iris automatically).
The build construction seems to be as good as the other Samyang lenses.
But with this terrible photo is impossible to know if the lens has two separate axis.
The only thing that worries me about this “cheap” tilt and shift lens is the image quality. But even the Nikkor 24 PC-E is the shit. The perfect 24 tilt and shift lens is the Canon 24 TS-E II

  • D1000

What lenses should we expect at Photokina? No fresh rumors? Please, I need to know!!!!

    • WoutK89

if you NEED to know, wait 2 more weeks and you know all 🙂

      • D1000

Can’t wait!!!! Just bought one of the last d700 and purchasing the 85 1.8g! I must decide to buy another lens (not too expensive), thinking about 16-35 f4 if other wideanglezoom (or wideprime maybe :D) if other widereplacement are not scheduled! What you think guys????

        • F200

I got myself a Tokina 17-35 f4, it’s quite good and reasonably priced. I’m not sure whether is it as good as a Nikkor 17-35 f4, since I didn’t compare it, but I’m sure having fun taking photos with it.

          • D1000

Yeah, heard about it but still not many reviews, still waiting…

  • zaphod

Very about new lenses, no new fx to photokina?

  • Larry

Well, at least the “original Nikon 1” had both a viewfinder and a flash hotshoe. How about a Nikon 1 “retro” priced somewhere between $599 and $32,000.

    • Jabs

@Larry – the original Nikon 1 was a 24×30 film camera while FX or 35mm film is 24x36mm. The new digital Nikon 1 is light years ahead of it but probably not as well built or ‘pretty’ to some. Rare camera for collectors and sybarites or a practical digital body that outperforms the original = your choice. Give me a V1 to use instead of the original and then a nice picture of the original to frame – lol

    • Dave in the USA

I do not get why we keep seeing vintage Nikon stuff showing up on ebay at these ridiculous prices. Is there a Saudi prince somewhere that is buying this stuff? Does this stuff actually sell?

  • doorman

    Samyang please make autofocus lenses.

    • They won’t. It’s very hard to develop a comparable AF system for Nikon and Canon cameras, and not cheap. The only reason Samyang is doing so well is because they focus on the optics and are keeping it cheap. There is no way they are going to go head to head with Canon and Nikon, not when they found such a successful niche.

    • not realistic

sigma have huge R&D and cannot make lenses reliably exposing and focusing on nikon or canon.
heck even nikon cannot make perfectly autofocusing lenses as most are nowadays +/- misscalibrated out of factory (if you are lucky microaf helps).

i agree. they should focus on quality of glass and make them well for realistic prices.

  • When I was in college some guy had two Nikon rangefinders. That was ages ago and they were rare then. I wonder if he has them now.

A tilt shift from Samyang sounds interesting. This is the sort of lens that does not need AF, so it could be a real buy. Most (not all) of Samyang’s lenses have been very good. The 24mm f/1.4 being the sour one.
