The website f64.ro lists the Nikon D3x as “out of production”. They were also the first to mark the D3s as “out of production” back in December, 2011. Few months later the camera was listed as discontinued in Japan and the US. The Nikon D3x never dropped in price like the D700 and is still listed for $7,999.95.
Those are the latest Nikon instant rebates for DSLR and mirrorless cameras. The body only D7000 and D5100 cameras (both in stock) also qualify for the instant savings. Those rebates will expire on March 31, 2012. After the D4 and D800 announcements, Nikon stopped the rebate program for the D3s/D700 models and I don’t think they are coming back.

As I already mentioned earlier today, the Nikon D4 is now shipping and this is the first unboxing video. I am not sure why this D4 camera came with a Sony XQD card and a reader – this was probably a local special.

The Nikon D4 camera is currently en route to some dealers in Europe. I expect to see the first unboxing pictures/videos/samples tomorrow or the day after. I still have no confirmation on the exact US delivery date. The camera is supposed to start shipping on March 15th, Amazon US expects it on March 20th.
