The upcoming Nikon D5 DSLR camera will have a 20 MP sensor (plus more leaked D5 pictures)

I received few more Nikon D5 pictures from Asia. You can now see the third Fn2 button and the back layout of the camera. The Nikon D5 is currently in production in the Sendai manufacturing plant in Japan. I can also now confirm the 20MP sensor I initially reported back in February. Update: more D5 pictures are available here.

New version of Nikon SDK released

Nikon updated their SDK (software development kit) bringing compatibility to OS X El Capitan:

Update: there is a third button under the Fn1 covered by the finger, more D5 pictures are available here.
Above are the first two pictures of the upcoming Nikon D5 DSLR camera. Compared to the D4s, the new D5 will have a new ISO button on the top plate (instead of MODE), the video record button is moved to the side and there are mic hole above the D5 label. The signature Nikon red swoosh also has a new design. Here is a picture of the D4s for comparison:

Update: here are the first pictures of the Nikon D5 camera.
Here is an updated list of the rumored Nikon D5 specifications – the last time I was not sure about the number of autofocus points, I can now report that the D5 will have 153 autofocus points:

New 18-55mm VR DX lens coming in early 2016

I don’t know how to report this and hold a straight face, but Nikon will announce a new 18-55mm VR DX lens in early 2016. The good news is that this lens will most likely be attached/announced/sold with a new DX camera. I have no idea what this DX camera will be (if there is one). The other possibility is that this new lens could be a replacement for the current Nikkor AF-S 17-55mm f/2.8G IF-ED DX.
FYI: Nikon recently filed a patent for a 16-55mm f/3.5-5.6 VR DX lens.
