Few last minute updates on the Nikon D7000 specs:
Nikon Speedlight SB-700 and new the 200mm f/2will be available for sale in November, 2010. Not sure about the availability of the Nikkor 35mm f/1.4.

Today Fantasea announced the FP7000 – the first water housing for the Nikon Coolpix P7000 camera (not listed on Fantasea’s website yet). Available in early 2011, price is not yet released.
What is interesting here is that Fantasea came up with this solution just few days after the Nikon Coolpix P7000 camera was announced. This confirms that Nikon does share information about upcoming products with selected manufacturers. Good to know.

“Q13:- Is there going to be a D700x or D700s? If yes, then when could we expect it? – Dr. Parth
Ans:- Dear Dr. Parth,
At present, there are no plans to replace Nikon D700.Q14:-When D90 replacement is going to be launched? I’m planning to buy a D90. Is it the correct time to buy it or should I wait? Is there any chance of D90 price drop in another 1 month? – Deb
Ans:- Dear Deb,
At present, there are no plans to introduce any replacement camera and no price drop can be committed.
My suggestion is that technologies keep changing; you have to decide when to buy. I suggest, do not wait, Nikon D90 is a hot cake, go grab it.”
An interesting anonymous tip I received few days ago (edited):
“For the last few months Nikon has been working on a carbon fibre body for a Nikon pro-level DSLR. They are specifically looking at the manufacture of a resin-infused 3D woven CFRP body as well as fatigue testing of some CFRP components. The body appears would be a full size (D1, D2, D3 sized SLR). The benefit of using carbon fibre is increased stiffness and a slight reduction in mass.”
Today Amazon started shipping the Nikkor AF-S 85mm f/1.4G lens. If you have pre-ordered it, expect delivery early next week. Some related links:
Some small details about the rumored Nikon Speedlight SB-700: it will have various illumination patterns (center-weighted, even and normal); the color gels will communicate the type of gel inserted to the camera and the white balance will be set automatically. That’s all for now.
After the upcoming announcement on September 15th, Nikon may have another announcement on September 20th, one day before the start of Photokina. Back in 2008, Nikon announced the new 50mm 1.4 lens the day before the start of Photokina. If true, the potential candidates for this third announcement are the new Nikon EVIL system or a new full frame DSLR camera (this is not a rumor, just my humble opinion).
I do not have a good feeling about this third potential announcement, [NR] probability rating is “only” 40%.
FYI: today Nikon started a new “I am Photokina” website:
