F-mount goodies at Photokina

Several new F-mount products were introduced at Photokina. A quick overview:

Sigma

Samyang

In addition to the 35 mm f/1.4 AS UMC lens, Samyang also announced two new lenses with F-mount: V-DSLR 8 mm F3.5 Aspherical IF MC Fish-eye CS and AE 14 mm f/2.8 ED AS IF UMC. The 8mm lens is what Samyang calls “Video-DSLR” which means that the lens already has follow focus teeth. Electronic interface was added to the 14mm f/2.8 lens for transferring information about focal lengths and available apertures.

Schneider-Kreuznach

Schneider-Kreuznach announced two two tilt-shift lenses with F-mount: PC-TS Super-Angulon 2.8/50 HM and PC-TS Makro-Symmar 4.0/90 HM. Press release is available on dpreview.

Nikon at Photokina coverage (or lack thereof)

The latest buzz on the Net is the high ISO image samples from the D7000 taken at the Nikon booth at Photokina: the Italian website hwupgrade has a few, including downloadable NEF files. More samples available here, here, here and here. Besides that, the Nikon related coverage from Photokina is almost non-existing. Next time I will make sure I have my own coverage.

There are also four new “I am Photokina” videos:

Nikon Q sign in Cologne? *busted*

Update: this rumor is busted, you can see the original picture here.

A reader just sent me this picture of a “Nikon Q” sign reportedly taken in Cologne Germany where Photokina 2010 is taking place. I am skeptical (red Nikon logo?). Has anyone seen something similar on the streets of Cologne or around Photokina?

Photokina starts tomorrow

So far I have not received any indication that Nikon will show something new at Photokina. I will be covering any Nikon related news for the next 24 hours. If you are going to Photokina, you can share your pictures/videos/commentary by contacting me or by uploading pictures to the flickr group I created: http://www.flickr.com/groups/photokina-2010/. You can use also the [NR] forum.

Some Nikon/Photokina related links:

Weekly Nikon related news/links #76

“Nikon has drawn as usual and decided how they want the sensor to function, since it is also, as usual, an external sensor manufacturer based on, in this case Sony.”

And to make things more interesting, according to Markus Hillebrand (Marketing Manager, Nikon Germany) the D7000 sensor is design and produced by Nikon:

“A further highlight is the 16.2 effective megapixel resolution CMOS image sensor, the Nikon According to Markus Hillebrand, Marketing Manager, Nikon Germany, has even developed and produced.”

Nikon Q – a hoax?

Update: the original car photo can be found here. It’s a Lexus LF-A. The weirdest thing is that this car is…. mirrorless… look at the pictures, there are no mirrors whatsoever.

Unless you can make any sense of the fourth picture I received today, I say this whole “Nikon Q” thing is a hoax:

I am filing this under the humor rumor section: the new Nikon car 🙂
