Nikon lens announcement coming as early as next week

I already reported that Nikon is rumored to announce five new Nikkor lenses this year. I also reported that we will see an ultra wide angle and/or a fisheye lens (probably a 10-20mm DX lens to compete with the Canon 10-18mm and Sigma 10-20mm).

I can now confirm that Nikon will have a new products announcement as early as next week. I was told that this will be mainly a lens announcement. There could also be a new Coolpix camera announced (replacements for the Coolpix AW130 and P900 cameras are expected).

I do not expect a new DSLR or a mirrorless camera.

Stay tuned for additional information – there could be a surprise that I have not yet reported here on the blog.

Update #1: Nikon rumored to announce a new Nikkor 28mm f/1.4 lens.

Update #2: the second lens will be Nikkor AF-S 8-15mm f/3.5-4.5E ED fisheye

U.S. International Trade Commission has launched a patent infringement investigation of certain Nikon digital cameras, software and components

Reuters reports that the U.S. International Trade Commission has launched a patent infringement investigation of certain Nikon digital cameras, software and components triggered by a complaint from Carl Zeiss and ASML.

Everything started last month when Nikon filed a lawsuit against ASML and Carl Zeiss over patented semiconductor lithography technology. Three days later Zeiss and ASML started suing Nikon back

I am not a lawyer, but it is way too early to speculate what the outcome of all this will be. Cases like this usually take years and end up being settled out of court. My only issue is if Zeiss and ASML had a valid reason to sue Nikon, why did they wait until Nikon filed a lawsuit against them?
