Nikon AF-S 180-400mm f/4 ED TC VR first look review and sharpness comparisons by Steve Perry

I’ll admit it; curiosity got the best of me.

I’ve been seriously considering adding the new Nikon 180-400mm F/4 lens to my kit ever since the announcement. And that’s the problem – “considering.” I wasn’t 100% sold on it just yet (and, truthfully, I’m still not 100% sure I’m ready to pull the trigger even after testing it, but I’m closer).

Sony raised the price of XQD memory cards

Sony forgot to update the XQD cards pricing on their website

In connection with my post from a few days ago regarding the increased price of Sony XQD memory cards – I can now confirm that Sony officially raised the prices and canceled all dealer’s orders that were placed with the old/lower pricing.

Here is the new XQD pricing Sony sent to dealers (the actual B&H pricing in the links is slightly different):

Status Manufacturer Part Number LIST PRICE
New Pricing QDG32E/J $91.99
New Pricing QDG64E/J $142.94
New Pricing QDG128E/J $233.42
New Pricing QDG256E/J $501.39

Sony XQD memory cards are even more expensive in the UK – as Broxibear noticed a Fuji X-A10 camera with a 16-50mm lens (£299) is cheaper than a Sony 128Gb XQD G card (£329).

Report: Nikon pulling KeyMission inventory out of US stores

I received a report from a US retailer that Nikon is currently in the process of buying back/pulling out all of the KeyMission products including accessories. I am not sure what is the reason behind the buyback and whether this is a nationwide initiative or just an isolated incident, but I will not be surprised if the Nikon KeyMission product line is already dead and a fire sale is coming soon.

Nikon KeyMission already had a big price drop in Europe (almost 50% off). In the US, only the Nikon KeyMission 170 is currently $53 (13%) off, all other models are still sold at full MSRP.

Nikon recently released a firmware update for the KeyMission 360 camera.
