One of the requirements for the new View NX2 software is the ability of your computer to perform playback and editing of H.264 movies:
“Display, playback, and editing of still images and movies (MotionJPEG): Intel Celeron / Pentium 4 / Core Series, 1.6GHz or above
Playback and editing of H.264 movies: Pentium D 3.0GHz or above (during playback), Core 2 Duo 2.6GHz or above (during editing)”

What’s new in version 2 after the break:
Nikon announced two new Coolpix cameras today: S1100pj and S5100. In addition, a new version View NX is also available. The View NX2 info is only on dpreview for now.

There is a low chance that new Coolpix cameras will be announced tonight (Monday, US Eastern time) and the Nikon D3100 plus the four lenses on Wednesday night. The second option is that everything will be announced together on Wednesday night (around midnight, US Eastern time).
The German magazine “Foto Digital” leak from last week had only two Coolpix cameras – the Nikon Coolpix S1100pj and the Nikon Coolpix S5100. Not sure why the rumored Nikon Coolpix P7000 was not covered in that article. Maybe they will announced it at a later date? I don’t know.
A quick update on the latest Nikon patents before the announcements start tomorrow.
Patent application 20100195221 is for a 24mm FX wide angle lens. Two examples are shown – one with f/2.8 and one with f/3.5:

Patent application 20100194974 is similar to the previously reported patent from Japan, but the US version has very detailed drawings of what appears to be an EVIL camera (there is still a mirror in the viewfinder):
Interesting: in all illustrations it seems that there is no shutter, or at least I cannot see one. The same patent application contains also a detailed drawings of the sensor housing (3:2 aspect ratio) and the lens mount:
