Debao SU-800 is a cheaper alternative to the Nikon SU-800 wireless flash commander

The Chinese made Debao SU-800 is almost an exact copy of the Nikon SU-800 wireless Speedlight commander that sells for a fraction of the price ($100 vs. $250). In addition, the Debao SU-800 offers a longer range coverage than the Nikon’s version (see comparison at the bottom of this post).

DxOMark does 1 Nikkor lenses

DxOMark published their test results for several Nikon 1 lenses. Their conclusion:

“From our findings on 1 Nikkor lenses, the 18.5mm f/1.8 and 6.7-13mm are the best performing lenses of their type in the range, thus far. However, we’ve yet to assess the new large aperture Nikon 1 Nikkor 32mm f/1.2 which is promising, though perhaps unlikely to outdo the 18.5mm.”

Nikon US instant rebates to expire in 3 days, Nikkor 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6G lens price drop in the UK

The current Nikon instant rebate program (US) will expire in 3 days. The program will be renewed next month, but I was told that many of the high-end lenses will not be included.

A reader informed that the price of the 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR lens in several UK stores has dropped to around £2,000 from £2,416.00. This seems to be a common practice in the UK – the price of new Nikon gear is drastically reduced few months after the official announcement.
