This is the most likely scenario for the Nikon announcement during the CES show on January 7, 2014:
A silver Nikon Coolpix A camera is listed for £386.44 on Amazon UK which is £613.55 (61%) off the original price of £999.99. In Germany the camera is currently listed for €599.
In the US the Coolpix A is still selling for $1,096.95.
The main Coolpix A competitor, the Ricoh GR, is currently selling for around $650.
I was told that NPS Japan stopped selling Nikon D4 cameras through their equipment exchange program. This is another good indication that a new flagship model is coming soon.
The Tamron SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di VC USD lens (Nikon mount) is now available for pre-order at $1,069 as previously reported. Few sample images taken with the lens can be found here and here, the detailed specifications are listed here.
