The first Nikon D800 cameras were delivered in Japan and Europe today. Nikon Australia is expected to have the D800 in stores tomorrow (March 22):
No word when shipping will start in the US. Amazon sent out emails to existing pre-orders that they will receive the first D800 shipment on March 23, 2012:
Here it is again – the price of the Nikon D800 dropped £300 (around $480) on Amazon UK. Not sure if this is a mistake or a special offer, but the same price drop happened also few days ago and then it went back to £2,399.99.
Update: the Nikon D800 price on Amazon Italy also dropped with EUR 400 to EUR 2.525,16:
Nikon Japan issued a statement today that the amount of D800 pre-orders have greatly exceeded the amount of produced cameras. They also confirmed that the D800 is scheduled to launch on March 22, 2012.
It’s interesting that Nikon did not make such statement about the D4.
Amazon and B&H still have the D800 release date listed as March 20th (tomorrow) and delivery date of March 22nd:
