Nikon expectations for Photokina 2010

Photokina is the biggest photography equipment show in the world and it takes place every two years in Cologne, Germany. The dates for 2010 are September 21-26. Here is an updated list of what Nikon is expected to release for Photokina this year: Nikon D90 replacement (probably called D95, low chance of being called D8000): Aluminium or magnesium-alloy body […]

Nikon D90 replacement and a new 200mm f/2 N VRII in September

Nikon should announce the Nikon D90 replacement and a new Nikkor 200mm f/2.0 with Nano coating and VRII in mid-September (probably on/around September 15th, 2010). The current Nikkor 200mm f/2G IF-ED AF-S VR version was announced back in 2004 and it now sells for around $5,000. Expect the price of the new version to be close to the $6,000 mark. […]

Nikon D95, Coolpix P7000

Some interesting information came in today – basically more details on the already existing rumors: The Nikon D90 replacement will probably be called Nikon D95. Magnesium body. Previous reports indicated that parts of the body will be aluminium. My guess here is that the body will be magnesium-alloy, just like the D300s. 16MP sensor (expected) 1080 HD video. 6 fps (FYI: Nikon D90 does […]

Rumor: Sony to announce 4 new cameras with 14MP and 16MP APS-C sensors

Rumors surfaced today that Sony will release four new cameras with 14MP and 16MP APC-S sensors and guess what? One of the expected new feature is AF during video recording. Sounds familiar? The rumored Nikon D3100 DSLR is also expected to have continuous AF during video recording. My initial report about the D3100 having a 10MP sensor is probably wrong […]

Nikon planning an August press event in Europe

The word from Europe is that Nikon is planing a press event in at least one European country during the week of August 16th-20th, 2010. We can eliminate Monday and Friday, since those are not preferred days for new product announcements, which leaves us with August 17th, 18th and 19th as a potential announcement dates. I do not know […]

Nikon D8000 could be the name of the D90 replacement

Update: Nikon D3s now in stock. I started to get some good vibes from the rumor mill. The model numbers are really insignificant but I was always curious how Nikon will continue the D90 DSLR line. One very possible combination could be: Nikon D4000 (D3000 replacement) and D8000 (D90 replacement), both with full HD and 14-18MP […]
