New patent: the Nikon Coolpix P900 camera replacement could have a 100x zoom lens

   Nikon Japan has a new patent for a compact super zoom camera with a 100x optical zoom lens (4.4-440mm f/2.8-8.3 or 24-2400mm equivalent) designed for a 1/2.3″ sensor. The current Nikon Coolpix P900 model ($499.98) has a 83x optical zoom (24-2000mm). Here are the details of the patent application:
