Funny thing is, the best part about this update is Nikon D610 tethering support. But it’s not mentioned anywhere. I’m glad I tried it.

    • Radu

      really?how does it work?

      • peterortphoto

plug your camera into your computer with a USB cable and open a tethered capture in Lightroom

    F*** you Adobe!

    • No adobe mortgage

yup, adobe let us know when its not a subscription!

  • bax-one

    Lens Support tamron 16-600? 😀

    • MajorMako

Did you mean to say Tamron 150-600mm? I have one on order (four+ months) can’t wait to get it.

  • Sam

Tamron SP 16—600mm F5-6.3 Di VC USD A011N
DAMN. What a zoom range! 😛

    • Click

      Where to buy??!! 😉

    • Carlo

Is doesn’t exist! It’s a typo, they would say Tamron 150-600!

  • AnthonyH

….and Elements users are screwed again.

    • Me

Stop buying it. It’s only slightly more useful than MS Paint.

      • AnthonyH

Thanks for a completely useless comment.

        • Me

No, really. Stop buying it. Elements only processes images at eight bit. This alone could be best described as sabotage.

Elements is a product that exists by virtue of taking an existing product and selectively crippling it. There is no technical reason for it to exist except to pick your pocket.

          • AnthonyH

Again with the useless comment. My original comment related to people who *already* own Photoshop Elements. Thus, your “stop buying it” comment is worthless in the context of my original statement. Stating it again doesn’t make it any more relevant.
The reality is the Adobe is trying to drive people to its subscription service. Thus, screwing over Elements users by delaying or not releasing ACR updates for Elements is just Adobe’s way of placing pressure on Elements owners to subscribe to Creative Cloud plans, which exist solely to “pick your pocket.”
BTW, Elements does have some limited 16-bit support, and given the low price ($69.99 on sale), it’s not surprising that 16-bit support is limited.

        • Samistheman

          And thanks to you too.

          • AnthonyH

            You’re welcome.

  • doge

Any word on when you’ll be able to Lightroom from an Android device?

    • koenshaku

      Probably never

      • Considering a beta was leaked at one point, I think you’re mistaken.

  • Arnie

very irritating that Adobe didn’t include ACR 8.5’s “Modify Graduated and Radial Filter masks with a brush” feature into Lightroom 5.5

  • Direct links?

  • William

Is the Lightroom 5.5 a trail or full version?

    • jmj

Full version if you have bought LR and have a serial.

      • William

I have Lightroom 4.0. Can I use the existing serial for the upgrade?

        • nwcs

You have to buy the LR 5 upgrade to go from LR 4 to LR 5.x. But at this point you might consider holding off, if you can, and see if LR 6 gives you more options. And there are other tools out there that might be interesting: Bibble, Capture One, DXO, PhotoNinja, etc.

          • cppguy16

Capture One 7 is 50% off until the end of June. That means $49 for the Express version.

    • FredBear

A trail version – it’s designed for portable equipment only 😉

  • guest

N.B. – There’s a post on rangefinder forum from someone having troubles after the Adobe update. Check it out yourself.

  • FredBear

Any Idea when LR 6 will be the introduced?
Or will 6 be ‘cloud only’?

    • nwcs

At least all Adobe’s statements regarding LR have been consistent. They indicate that LR will be available as perpetual license for the next version and indicated they don’t see a reason to remove that option. So I would count on LR6 and possibly LR7 being perpetual. Eventually the model will go to subscription for a lot of software that isn’t one-off types or freemium type apps.

I personally dislike rental licensing but with the permanent $9.99 offer with LR it’s hard to really complain. Just make sure you keep your raws or don’t leave things in PSD format. Then you can use whatever tool you need in the future.

      • FredBear

Depends on how Adobe classify ‘version’. They don’t say ‘major version’ so 5.5 might be the last (Major – first digit – is used by most software vendors to differentiate from ‘minor’ ones – second digit and/or following digits. ‘Version’ can be either).
In any event, long term Adobe will go to ‘The Cloud’ so perhaps one should be looking at changing PP software now rather than waiting for the inevitable?

        • “The Cloud” is for amateurs. That’s who Adobe is targeting with this nonsense. It would be nice if it let pros buy what they need.

      • nobody cares

If you only use LR, then going to the cloud stinks. If you use LR and PS, it’s a great deal.

Of course if you already have 6.5, it’s not a great deal (esp since you probably bought it because Adobe said buy or no more upgrades). It works for me.
