Firmware update v1.10 for 30-110mm f/3.8-5.6 and 10-30mm f/3.5-5.6 Nikon 1 mirrorless lenses

Nikon issued firmware update v1.10 for the 1 Nikkor VR 30-110mm f/3.8-5.6 and 1 Nikkor VR 10-30mm f/3.5-5.6 lenses that contains only one modification:

"When this lens is used with Nikon 1 cameras released in, or after, August 2012, the camera can be turned off by locking the lens barrel (retractable lens barrel button), even if the monitor has turned off and the camera has entered standby mode."

This is super good news for two lenses I will never own.

I wonder what other sorts of things the lens firmware controls. Do the regular F mount lenses have updatable firmware?

    • pointshooter

Yup, the F lenses are updated through the regular camera firmware.

  • fototi

yes, finally! nikon should have included this feature on day 1.

  • Paul

Seriously? So they’re saying this will not work on the V1 or J1?

    • dmax

Yes, I updated my 10-30 that was used on J1 and it doesn’t work! 🙁

  • CL

Why all the sarcasm and negativity? Be positive, this is a start. Maybe Nikon is listenening a tiny bit to their ustomers. Now for some FAST GLASS for the Nikon 1!!!

  • ageha

    When will the V1 come?

    • ageha

Ops, meant the V2 of course! 😀

  • Royl

Good fix. I wonder why it wasn’t there all along, but better late than never. Maybe it is coming from the V2 design and they are trying to hold the user base until it is ready. Where can we go? Nobody has been able to copy the AF without patent infringement, apparently.

Got a Nikon 1 V3. Want to proceed with Firmware update of the kit lens (10-30) from 1.0 to 1.10. Downloaded the zip, extracted and when putting bin file in root of micro sd card and insert in camera it says memory card not usable, might be damaged. Card is otherwise perfect but only acts up when with bin file. Please advise.
