Nikon has a permit for a still photography shooting in Miami

The Miamidade.gov website lists Nikon as the permit holder of a still photography shooting currently in production in Miami. The photographer is Tom Bol who has worked for Nikon before. Could this be the marketing campaign for the upcoming Nikon D600 camera?

Voigtländer 28mm f/2.8 Color Skopar SLII lens specs

The Voigtländer 28mm f/2.8 Color Skopar SLII lens was announced few months ago with almost no additional info. Now the company decided to update their website with the detailed specs and the price of the new lens. The US price for the Nikon mount version is $599 (529 Euro):

Nikon 800mm f/5.6 lens announced

Lexar announced support for XQD memory card

Today Lexar announced that they will start producing XQD memory cards that are currently used only in the Nikon D4 DSLR camera. The first Lexar XQD cards are expected in Q3 of 2012. Currently only Sony sells XQD memory card and they recently announced a faster S version.

Nikon patent adds low-pass filter in the lens

Nikon’s patent 2012128155 filed in Japan is for implementing an optical low-pass filter (OLPF) in the lens for optimum performance and improved resolving power. The low-pass filter is used to prevent/reduce moiré patterns in images. The patent describes a 300mm f/2.8 lens with OLPF.
