The end of the D800 and D4 pre-orders wait time

The end of the pre-orders wait time is near: Amazon currently has both the Nikon D800 and D4 in stock. This means that they no longer have a waiting list. I expect other stores also to fulfill their pre-orders soon.

Multiple Nikon announcements scheduled for Photokina

There will be no new Nikon announcements in July. In August and probably September Nikon will start introducing new products in almost every category. For the Photokina show in Cologne (September 18-23, 2012) Nikon will have new DSLR camera(s), lens(es), Coolpix models and mirrorless products on display. Expect more details in the upcoming weeks.

Is Tamron preparing new prime lenses for the Nikon 1 mirrorless system?

Tamron filed a patent in Japan for several prime lenses designed for a camera with 1″ sensor. Those lenses are probably intended for the Nikon 1 mirrorless camera, unless the new Canon mirrorless camera also has a 1″ sensor.

Fake MB-D12 battery grips for the D800: are they worth it?

Embedded is a video review on the fake battery grips for the Nikon D800 DSLR that can be purchased from Amazon – the Pixel version is $100 and the Meike copy costs around $70. For comparison, the original Nikon MB-D12 is priced at $400.
