Nikon at the 2018 NAB show *UPDATE: NOW LIVE*


Today Nikon published their 2018 NAB press release which means they do not plan to announce any new products at the show. The bigger NAB booth this year was because of the new MRMC Polycam automated capture solution.

The price of the kit is $5,496.95 while the total price of all items is $6,285.75 – you will basically save $788.80 by purchasing the kit instead of the items separately.

February CIPA report: DSLR cameras production has better numbers than mirrorless


CIPA (Camera & Imaging Products Association in Japan) published their February report. The downturn in the camera indistry continues – the total number of shipped digital cameras is lower compared to the same month in previous years (see the graphs ovder at PhotoRumors.com).


The table above with the actual numbers has some interesting info – DSLR cameras performed better than mirrorless in February. DSLR camera production (marked with red) saw a significant increase:

Nikkei: both Nikon and Canon to announce new full-frame mirrorless cameras in the second half of 2018


According to a recent Nikkei article, both Nikon and Canon are going to release their full-frame mirrorless cameras in the second half of 2018. The initial plan was to release their new mirrorless solutions in 2019, but both companies have accelerated their plans based on the latest market trends, demand and advance in technology.

Sony and Tamron recently made similar statements about the Nikon full-frame mirrorless camera.

The reports about the new Canon full frame mirrorless camera have also picked up in the last few weeks.
