Nikon released firmware update version 1.02 for the Nikkor AF-S 180-400mm f/4 ED TC VR lens that fixes this autofocus issue:

  • Fixed an issue that in rare cases slowed autofocus tracking or prevented the camera focusing.

This is the second firmware update for the 180-400mm lens (version 1.01 can be found here).

The new Lexar, ProGrade and SanDisk CFexpress memory cards are now all available for pre-order

The new Lexar CFexpress memory cards that were announced at the 2019 NAB show are now available for pre-order at B&H Photo.


The new ProGrade Digital CFexpress memory cards (including their 1TB CFexpress memory card version) are now also available for pre-order at B&H Photo.

Nikon, Leica and Olympus will not take part in the next 2020 Photokina show

Photokina sent out an email (in German language) indicating that Nikon, Leica and Olympus will not be part of the next 2020 Photokina show. Here is the English translation (udpated with original press text):

“Already with the last photokina, important new exhibitors could be won with this conceptual adjustment. The share of younger visitors has also increased consistently over the last two events. The attention for photokina remains great, as does the sense of anticipation for photokina 2020 of many visitors and exhibitors. “We look forward to strong demand and applications from both the new and the classic segments of companies like Canon, CEWE, GoPro, Sony, Panasonic, Kodak Alaris, Sigma, Tamron, Carl Zeiss, Hasselblad, Hahnemühle, Arri, Rode Mikrophones, DJI and Insta360”, says Christoph Werner, Vice President of Koelnmesse. Nikon Coolpix P1000 firmware update version 1.2 released

Today Nikon released firmware update version 1.2 for the Nikon Coolpix P1000 camera with a single fix:

  • When the battery was charged using the charging AC adapter, the charge lamp would not stop flashing when charging was complete.

Atomos ProRes RAW updates from the IBC 2019 show: “we’re not the only feature they (Nikon) are upgrading, they have some new autofocus on those cameras”

Some Atomos ProRes RAW updates from the IBC 2019 show:

  • Adobe has officially announced that ProRes RAW will be supported natively in Premiere Pro.
  • Atomos dropped the price of the Shinobi 5.2″ 4K HDMI monitor by $100 to $299 (Adorama | B&H).
  • Atomos CEO Jeromy Young “leaked” that new AF changes are coming to Nikon Z cameras – in this video interview Atomos CEO confirmed how the upcoming firmware update from Nikon will include AF changes as well – watch at the 1:03 mark where he says “We’re not the only feature they’re upgrading, they have some new autofocus on those cameras” – he also mentioned it’s not a paid upgrade, you will just have to pay the cost for sending your camera in:
