Sigma released new firmware updates for issues with the Nikon D6 camera

A few days ago Sigma released new firmware updates for several F-mount lenses that fixes issues with the Nikon D6 camera:

  • It has improved the start-up time after the Nikon D6 power is turned on.
  • It has fixed an issue where the autofocus did not work when used on a Nikon D6.

Impacted lenses:

・Sigma 14-24mm F2.8 DG HSM | Art
・Sigma 40mm F1.4 DG HSM | Art
・Sigma 85mm F1.4 DG HSM | Art

Currently, there is only one Nikon D6 in stock at Amazon (shipped and sold by Amazon). The D6 is also in stock in Canada. All other stores are back-ordered (Adorama | B&H | WEX | Park Camera | Calumet).

  • The Nikon Z5 is made in Thailand.
  • The name of the sensor manufacturer and the sensor pixel pitch are confidential.
  • The Nikon Z5 uses a different sensor from the Z6 and Z7 (not backside illumination), noise and other characteristics will differ.
  • The Z 5 is a mid-level FX-format model (Nikon still leaves a space for a real “entry-level camera?)

Good news: the Nikkor Z 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S lens will start shipping this week (together with the new Z teleconverters)

Nikon Japan issued a news alert that the new Nikkor Z 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S lens is on a “pre-release display” at Nikon Plaza Ginza and Nikon Plaza Osaka together with the new TC-1.4x and TC-2.0x Z teleconverters. The new lens, teleconverters, and the Z5 are set to start shipping on August 28.
