Today Nokishita confirmed my latest report – only two new lenses will be announced tonight:
The rest of the new products tonight will be development announcements (28mm f/2.8, 40mm f/2 lenses, and maybe a surprise but I doubt it). A new Z lens roadmap is also expected.
Stay tuned for the full coverage around midnight tonight (EST).
Nikon is also rumored to release new firmware updates for the Z6II and Z7II cameras – probably with support for the new lenses that will be announced tonight. Stay tuned for details.
Update: it seems that the rumored firmware update will only be to support the focus limiter switch on the new NIKKOR Z MC 105mm f /2.8 VR S lens and will be released soon:
Equipped with a focus limiter* function that reduces focusing time during close-up shooting by limiting the focus range.
* Update the camera firmware to the latest version. With earlier versions, the camera may fail to detect the lens correctly and some features may not be available. (from Nikon”s press release)
The latest/updated list of products that will be announced on Jun 2nd could actually be worse than previously predicted/reported:
I am still confused about the lack of a new APS-C camera and the 100-400mm lens. There is still a chance for another development announcement. Stay tuned for details.
