Just announced: special edition, retro-inspired, black Nikon Z fc camera and new Nikkor Z 40mm f/2 (SE) lens

Nikon just announced the special edition, retro-inspired black Nikon Z fc camera and the new Nikkor Z 40mm f/2 (SE) lens:

  • Pre-orders:
  • The black Nikon Z fc with 16-50mm f/3.5-6.3 lens will cost $1,200 and will be available only at the Nikon Store (shipping starts in November).
  • The Nikon 40mm f/2 (SE) lens will be priced at $306 (shipping starts in early 2023). The specs are the same as the regular 40mm f/2 Z lens.
  • The Z fc is now available in additional different colors: Amber Brown, White, Natural Gray, Sand Beige, Coral Pink, and Mint Green (before this option was available only in Asia).

Black Nikon Zfc camera to be announced tonight?

The @camerainsider Twitter account has been consistently wrong with previous Nikon rumors but they did however correctly report the announcement date of the new Nikon Nikkor Z 600mm f/4 TC VR S lens (a few days after my blog post) but did not mention the Nikon MC-N10 remote grip.

CameraInsider now reports that tonight Nikon will announce a new black Zfc camera and a Nikkor Z 40mm f/2.0 SE lens (probably in retro design to match the black Zfc, since that lens is already available).

There was some talk a while back about a black Nikon Zfc camera (see pictures above), but I have not received any information since.
