A quick update on my previous posts: Camerainsider reports that the rumored Nikon Z5II camera will be announced in April. On March 6th, I reported that the Z5II is expected around May:
“The Nikon Z5II camera is rumored/expected to be announced around May this year. Of course, the release timeframe can change, but this is what I have for now.”
We do not have any detailed specifications yet, but the new Nikon Z5II camera will be based on the Nikon Zf and will have some tech from the Nikon Z6III.
What to expect next: an updated list of upcoming/rumored Nikon cameras and Nikkor lenses
Here is an updated list of “What to expect next from Nikon“:

Made-up upcoming camera models, a.k.a. clickbait rumors (I am sure I missed a few – there is a new one every week):
Nikon Zx/Zxx is used to mark prototype Nikon cameras for testing, and it is not a real name for a new model. For example, this is a Z6 camera distributed for testing before the official announcement years ago:
I have been reporting for a while that Nikon will release a new video-oriented Z-mount camera with some RED tech inside (not a new RED camera with Z-mount – we already got that). I have some new information on those rumors. The new model will be based on the Nikon Z6 III (same sensor), but the camera body will have a completely new video-oriented design (no EVF) – something similar to the Sony FX3 and the Nikon Z30:
The official announcement is expected later this year – most likely in the third or fourth quarter. I do not know what the new line will be called – Nikon Zv or Z6v, maybe?
Nikon plans to incorporate RED’s video tech in its cameras in order to expand market share
