Here is what we are still expecting from Nikon based on old rumors/reports:

Update: I forgot to add to the list the Nikkor Z 28-135mm f/4 PZ zoom lens that is not officially announced yet.

For the rest, I was told that 2025 will be a generally “slow year” for Nikon compared to the past few years in terms of new product announcements. Nikon now has a pretty good product line of cameras and lenses that are still selling well. The goal for 2025 is to clear existing inventory with attractive rebates (already happening) before introducing the next generation of cameras and lenses. When exactly this will happen depends on how fast Nikon can sell their existing stock.

In terms of new Z cameras, I have heard talk about three possibilities:

  • Nikon Z9 replacement (Nikon Z9II?) – it may not even happen in 2025 since the Z9 is still selling well, but it is definitely coming.
  • Nikon Z5 replacements (Nikon Z5II?) – a low chance for now, I got only one tip about this camera model.
  • Nikon Z video camera (brick-shaped, without pentaprism, similar to current RED models): no surprise here – an obvious move after the RED acquisition:
