More leaks or more spelling mistakes?

Do you remember our D3x leaks or spelling mistakes sequence?

Updated: I guess the reference here was for multiple D3s and not a model D3s. Ooops!
Here is another one (thanks Peter): it seems that Mr. Scott Kelby owns a Nikon D3s:
Spelling Bee contest anyone?

Nikon press conference on September 3rd

A reader reported that Nikon is holding a press conference on September 3rd:

“I don’t know anymore than that : Nikon will hold a press conference on September 3. That’s for sure since I received an invite. In that time frame (three weeks before kina) it’s seems safe to assume thebig news will be announced then… but that is only an assumption “

Thom Hogan writes about what’s next from Nikon

In his post from July 14 Thom Hogan writes about what’s next from Nikon:

– He confirms that the next FX camera will be in D3 body (we also did not believe his previous prediction for D900) – he claims to have received that message out of Japan.
– “Few f/1.4 primes” which completely confirms all other rumors we have been receiving from different sources.
– Coolpix with RAW capability – P6000 maybe?
– D80 replacement – Thom is also guessing the release date (before or after Photokina).
– 24 – 120 mm VRII (Thom is not holding his breath on this one)
– 70 – 200 mm VRII (Thom is not holding his breath on this one either)

I hope Thom is not getting his information from nikonrumors.com and believe his post is a confirmation of what we have been reporting lately.

Nikon to produce NEW 17-55 2.8 lens

According to this post in dpreview:

Grays of Westminster in London UK said they are POSSIBLY expecting a new nano coated version of the 17-55 2.8 later this year with possible VR”

They even mention the phone number. Can someone in the UK call them up and confirm?

More on Nikon@Photokina

A reader wrote us about the next release from Nikon @ Photokina:

24mm 1.4 AF-S
35mm 1.4 AF-S
50mm 1.4 AF-S
85mm 1.4 AF-S

all “G” but not DXs not as sure about the 35mm as the others

No meaty info on D90 yet stay tuned. Should be D300 chip in more prosumer body with live view

D3x very evolutionary not as much revolutionary and will be same as D3 with the exception of the cmos size which you are correct about.  Noise reduction and usability of high isos will take another radical jump from present gear

I think we will see the D3x and primes announced at Photokina. The 70-200 should be there too.  There is also an 80-400 replacement (AF-S) on the blocks but my guess would be that it will be introduced along with D90. I think the D90 is a PMA (feb) deal but it seems like D80 are out of stock all over.  This isn’t unusual though as occasionally Nikon will miss the mark with how long supply will last

Photokina rumors

Did someone noticed this comment from a reader on one of the posts?

24-120mm VR II – correct
70-200mm VR II – correct
D3x – correct
Primes – correct, 3 will be introduced with D3x
D90 (d80 replacement) correct
I would not have mentioned it, but I got confirmation form another source that this may be the real deal for Photokina.
Do you remember the German magazine leak – it was also submitted as a comment to an existing post.
