Nikon D800 will have video

There is a post on a very popular photography forum where somebody claims to be under NDS agrement with Nikon – the post was very casual and did not reveal any upcoming Nikon products.

After I went through the post history of the same person, I found some interesting info: in another post the same person claims that we will see a new version of the D3 and Nikon D800 next year. Both models will have higher megapixel count and the D800 will have a video as well.

I will not reveal the name of this person or forum name – I do not want him to get in trouble, but trust me it is out there.

A New Nikon Rebate Program will be coming soon!

Hello world!

Welcome to WordPress. I love it! I am not 100% done and still have to make some small changes to the design.

The most important thing is that all 327 posts, 5041 comments and 157 trackbacks got imported successfully and are available.

The bad news is that some links are broken and f#%&ing godaddy exported also the already deleted spam… Now I have an additional 3000 spam comments online! WTF? Why did they include them in the export file? I am glad I am out of there. If you see some weird comments, please be patient until I fix this mess.

If anyone is using some cool WP plugins let me know – drop me a line at nikonrumors [at] gmail [dot] com or just post a comment.

Oh, I forgot to mention – I will be adding some red to the yellow 🙂 Is the red triangle a trademark/tradedress of Nikon?

The magic will happen tonight – I will be moving NR to a new home. You may experience some down time and the email system may not be working for few hours. Be patient – it can only get better.
I have been working on the blog transfer in the past few days and have not followed up on some of the latest rumors. This is what you missed:
  • Prices of Nikon DSLR went up @ B&H. In the new blog I will have a whole new section of price tracking.
  • I got few confirmations from new owners on new D300 firmware ver. 1.10.
  • A lot of buzz about Nikon D3x due this December. Links: here and here.
  • Email from a reader: “my Nikon Dealer ask me today if 12 MP are enough for me or if I want to get more, like 24 MP. The new cam will be announced soon and that time the first samples shall be available too …. and luck me, I am already listed as one of the preferred customer to get my hands on on one of this samples“.
  • I got some hints about the possibility of a new digital Nikonos, but it seems that this is still in early development and we may not see it any time soon. At that point I would not consider this as a serious rumor – this is like 3rd hand information.
  • Costco apparently dropped Nikon D300 from their inventory (source). Why would they do this before the holiday shopping season (or they may not be one this year)?
