Scott Kelby was joking

Clarification on a earlier post (Is Scott Kelby joking?) – I don’t think anyone took this seriously, but I have to clear his name, especially after… he got a call from Nikon. Read the whole story at his blog.

The good part from all this is that Nikon is reading this blog – so we all have a direct line to “God”. Let’s use it wisely!

Nikon financials outlook for 2009 not bad at all

In the post Nikon products in 2009 many readers expressed concerns that Nikon may slow down their imaging development and new product releases in 2009 because of the current economical crisis.

Nikon’s net sales and income estimates for Q1 and Q2 of 2009 does not look so bad (source). In fact, if you see this chart, you would not know that we are in a nasty recession (maybe they have not updated it lately?):

Has anyone seen any official statement from Nikon regarding the current economy and their financial estimates for 2009? Since Nikon stock is not traded in the US, I could not find any relevant/reliable info.

The rumor mill has stopped for the holidays

Yes, I know – slow on rumors and I have nothing to write about. No reason to remind me that. Here is something to entrain you while waiting for the good stuff:

Technically this is a rumor, practically it is humor – Nikkor AF-S 50mm f1.4G VR? This is an old fake and I do not know how it end up on this web site. The price is also ridiculous, but hey – you can save $20!

I am sure you will find this deal hard to resist:

$899? This must be a very good lens!

Nikon D3x price started to drop

The first price drop comes from Japan –  762,800 Yen down from 799.000 Yen (source).

Cameta Camera is selling Nikon D3x on eBay for $7479.95 – (buy now price, US warranty, free shipping).

RobertsImaging was selling the D3x for $7495, but now they are out of stock:

Nikon D3x price drop

There is also a price drop in Switzerland. While most resellers ask CHF 11.998 for the D3X, there is one selling it for CHF 9580.00 (or 9388.40 if you pay in advance).

I believe we will see a D3x price tag below $7,000 by March of 2009.

Nikon D300 price drop – next week only

According to Thom Hogan, there should be some special dealer incentives for the Nikon D300 in the last week of 2008. A quick price check shows that the D300 still sells for $1469 in the three major retailers – maybe they have not updated their prices yet.
