A new Nikon patent P2017-135422A was recently published in Japan for a multi-pixel PDAF sensor. The patent as originally filed in 2012 and my understanding is that it was just recently approved. (source)
It is time for another recap of the latest Nikon lens patents I have been collecting over the past few months: The first patent (P2017-125904A) that was published today is the most interesting – it’s for a 35mm f/2 full frame lens designed for a curved sensor. Nikon has two more patents designed for a camera with 1″ sensor: 1-10mm f/2.8-4 VR (28-280mm equivalent) 9-110mm f/2.8-5.6 VR (24-300mm equivalent) After Nikon confirmed on several occasions that their Nikon 1 mirrorless line is not dead (reported first by dpreview), it is safe to assume that a new Nikon 1 J6 mirrorless camera with 4k video […]
Nikon has a new patent for a 4.3-357mm f/2-6.5 VR lens designed for cameras equipped with 1/2.3″ sensor (24-2000mm equivalent). There is a good chance that this lens could be used in the replacement of the popular Nikon Coolpix P900 camera ($529). Nikon has a new patent for a 7.4-600mm f/2.8-6.3 lens designed for cameras with 1″ sensor (20-1620mm f/2.8-6.3 equivalent) – this is a 81x zoom to be exact (described as 75x zoom in the patent). Maybe this will be for a new super-zoom DL camera similar to the Coolpix P900, but with 1″ sensor. Here are […]
